Men’s Fish Hook Pendant with Designs – Hei Matau

Hei Matau are stylized fish hook pendants. They represent the fish hook that was used by the Polynesian hero Maui. Legend has it that Maui and his brothers fished up the North Island of New Zealand (Te Ika a Maui) with a hook such as this. Hei Matau also represents the importance of fishing to Maori and their connection with the God of the Sea – Tangaroa.
This man’s fish hook pendant is made from cow bone. It has a classic fish hook design with patterns in black.
