For thirteen years, the Cat helped his friend the TVNZ Kiwi (also called the the Goodnight Kiwi), entertained and delighted New Zealanders as they marked the close down of television for the night. As the Goodnight Kiwi did such mundane tasks as switching off the screens in the control room, turning off the lights and putting an empty milk bottle out on the front porch, the Cat jumped about and pulled faces at the camera. The much-loved animated short ends with a shot of the Cat curling up on Goodnight Kiwi’s feet and settling down to sleep.
